I'm a groove-oriented guitarist (mid-30s, been playing for more than 15 years) looking to join a working band that gigs around the Washington, DC area including weddings and events. Motown, Funk, Disco, Pop ... anything that gets butts out of seats and on to the dance floor. I have experience arranging, and am proficient on the drums and bass, too. I currently gig intermittently, but am looking for something more regular.

East Washington Heights Baptist Church is seeking a Director/Accompanist for the Children's, Youth and Voices of Praise choirs. The position’s major objective is to guide and nurture the children’s, youth, and Voices Praise of choirs. We are a church working to build up an intergenerational group of disciples who love God, love neighbors and transform the community with the Gospel of Christ.
General Duties:
Select the music for each service/program; prepare for all children and youth and Voices of Praise Choirs services; prepare the Children’s Choir and Youth Choir to sing one selection each and to cover hymns and responses during the 11:00 Sunday Worship Service one Sunday a month (currently 3rd Sunday); prepare the Voices of Praise Choir to sing two selections and to cover hymns and responses during the 11:00 Sunday Worship Service one Sunday a month (currently 2nd Sunday).
Salary: $8, annually
Qualifications Required for the Position:
• Proficient background in children's, youth and young adult music;
• Proficiency in improvisational ability;
• Proficient musical ability;
• Proficient keyboard ability;
• Proficient sight reading ability;
• Good communications skills are required;
• Proficient in directing/accompanying spiritual music; Work experience with young people and children preferred.

Ideally I want to be in a band that plays in bars, clubs, and events (weddings). I'm not too interested in writing original songs, just doing my own take on fun classics.
