I am 51 years old from Janesville, Wi now living in Sun Prairie, Wi. I hoped living closer to Madison would help to jump start a musical career again, I don't believe age in music means anything, the love for music, the passion for music, is all that matters.
I live, eat, and breath music it is in my soul, I've played since grade school as a drummer I played in every school band available from Jr high thru high school winning many awards for percussion it is all I've ever wanted to do.
In the 80s I was in a few hair metal bands-my favorite music-but over the years I've come to realize it's not about what music to play it's about playing, doing what I believe I was meant to do. My mentor is Neil Peart I play Tama drums because he did, my drum set is gigantic, because his was all Tama Titan hardware, all Zildjian cymbals. It was the age of excess however I know it's not about the size, it's about the love of drumming which has never faded.
I have never recorded I haven't played live for many years, I allowed myself to believe it was just a hobby, and have regretted that for many, many years. Realistically I can hold a double bass drum beat, but not like I used to, however I cannot imagine not playing with them they are great for accents and fills. I'm not necessarily looking to play metal or hard rock I just want to play. I write poetry and have written lyrics most are gone or lost but I can always write.
