Blues, rockabilly, although not my forte - old jazz standards. Looking to do mainly the old stuff, very old. 20's, 30's, 40's, some of the obscure songs rarely heard. Also, taking some more well-known things and doing them, well, differently, maybe adding a little 'edge' to them, maybe changing them up a little. Blusing out Sinatra's "Nice N Easy," making "The House of the Rising Sun" into a swing tune from the Benny Goodman era and adding a little 'grind' to it. That sort of thing. Not looking for fame, just some extra cash, and fun.

The Galveston Music Scene
... place to hear live music in Galveston.
One of the most popular places to catch a live show is the Bluebonnet Cafe, which has been hosting live music since the 1940s. The Cafe features a wide variety of genres, from blues to country to rock and roll. Another great option is the Old Quarter Brewery, which offers live music on its outdoor patio every weekend.
If you're looking for something a little more low-key, there are plenty of other options as well. The Thirsty Turtle is a great place to catch a laid-back acoustic set, while the Gypsy Bar is a great spot for blues and jazz. And for those who want to dance the night away, there's always the Balinese Room, which features live bands and DJs every night of the week.
No matter what your musical taste, you're sure to find something to enjoy in Galveston's music scene. So come on down and experience the sounds of the Gulf Coast!
