I sing and play a few instruments, mostly guitar and keys. I know my music theory, and I can play by ear. I don't sight-read all that well. I tend to chart everything out. I can harmonize.Personal stuff: I've been vegan for 11 years. I live drug-and-alcohol-free. I have a spiritual side and a pacifist side, but I'm not religious. I am learning tango with my fiance, and I do lots of acroyoga (partner acrobatics).
Musical Influences & Inspiration
I grew up listening to 80s alternative music. It's still a part of me, but I have been focused on writing positive songs for years. Because of that, my music tends to sound more like Crowded House than Depeche Mode. It's been genre-fied as "Modern Rock." I like some of the current conscious, festival music like Nahko and Medicine for the People and Michael Franti, but I'm more of a Brit-pop guy than a hip-hop guy. I enjoy dramatic music like Snow Patrol, Death Cab, and Coldplay, but too much grows tiresome. I'm interested in making music fun and danceable.
