I've been in bands since I was 12 years old; played all kinds of music. I learned to improvise by listening to rock guitar licks. In high school a tutor advised me to read Shakespear and play Bach Sonatas. When I had finished all of both of those, then try jazz. Wow! Bee Bop came so easy then. I have formal education in music as well. I would like to play in a jazz combo, or classic rock group. Also, I have experience in Latin, Tex-Mex, and other odd genres.

Way too much - multiple sets of saxophones, flute, piccolo, alto flute, NA flute in E, clarinets, trumpets, flugel horn, multiple strings, various latin percussion, mixers, speakers, amps, etc. They say money can't buy you happiness, but it can buy you a new saxophone, which is kind of the same thing.
