I've made up songs since I was small, but I didn't learn to sing properly till age fifty. Now in my sixties, I'd like to learn to harmonize. I'm looking for musicians to back me, so I don't have to sing EVERYTHING a capella.
Musical Influences & Inspiration
From earliest childhood the Weavers/Pete Seeger repertoire; the satirical songs of Tom Lehrer & Randy Newman. From my teens till today: Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe, John Prine. Still my role models. My pop knowledge trails off in the 90s, but every five or ten years someone makes me sit up and take notice. What inspires me lately are the oldest things -- sea shanties, Child's Ballads -- long, long story-songs.
