Looking for fellow travelers interested in starting an experimental old-time country band. I play acoustic and electric guitar, like to both invent songs and play covers. Why shouldnt country/americana be occasionally combined with ambient, drone, dissonance, electronics, or field recordings? Looking for folks of any instrument, gender, age, race, or orientation who love old-time country but also seek new sounds. Must like the idea of vamping on one or two chords indefinitely when the mood strikes: Mississippi hill country blues meets cowboy krautrock. Maybe build a foundation by playing stuff like Carter Family and Hank and proceed from there to our own sound. Vocals/harmonies a plus. This would be mainly for fun, exploration, and community, but gigging too. Gradually building a largish, flexible, multi-generational, multi-ethnic, gender inclusive group would be ideal. I know youre out there, but you sure are hard to find. (If not you, please forward this to your weird friend.) Macho virtuosos or obsessive gearheads look elsewhere, and absolutely no MAGA, Im allergic. Tiiiiiiiiime goes craaaalin by
