The first New Horizons Band was formed in Rochester, Ny in 1991 by Professor Roy Ernst. The idea of a music program for adults caught on quickly, and today there are over 200 chapters throughout the world. It is Professor Ernst's strong belief that everyone is capable of learning a musical instrument to a level of playing that brings a sense of accomplishment and the ability to contribute to an ensemble of fellow musicians. This program has value which extends far beyond music: • Provides a fun social outlet • Great way to meet new friends • Satisfaction from working as a team • Become more active in the community • Research shows many health benefits from playing music No prior musical experience is necessary. A desire to learn to play an instrument is the only requirement for this group. Remember - The New Horizons motto is "Your best is good enough!"
